Welcome!

Friends of TMVOA was established by concerned residents in Mountain Village over the independence of TMVOA from Telski, the perceived lack of governance and non compliance with Colorado law governing Homeowner’s Associations and compliance with Internal Revenue Service requirements for maintaining the tax exempt status of TMVOA.

The Charter of the Friends of TMVOA is to:

  • Ensure the Association is in compliance with the Colorado Common Interest Homeowner’s Act, not for profit status and its 501 (c) 4 tax exemption.
  • Ensure that the Residential Members are represented in a reasonable proportion to revenue contributed to TMVOA. Today the Residential Class has two voting members out of seven but contribute over 90% of revenue.
  • Ensure that the Board of TMVOA are independent Board members that are ensuring that the cash and investments of close to $50 million is spent for the public benefit of all Mountain Village Residents.
  • Ensure TMVOA hires an Auditor and Legal Counsel that is independent of Telski
  • Ensure the proper controls are in place regarding ethics and conflict of interest policies.
  • Raise sufficient funding to take legal action should the need arise.
  • Ensure the assessment of HOA fees are fair and reasonable and that all owners that vote are also paying HOA fees

What can you do to Help?

First: Click on the Speak Out tab and sign the petition to show how wide spread our homeowner support is for changes to TMVOA’s governance.

Second: Forward the petition link https://friendsoftmvoa.org/speak-out/ to your friends and neighbors. ( due to Colorado privacy laws we cannot access public email data bases)

Third: Make a pledge to fund our litigation efforts if the Board of TMVOA fails to meet our requests for greater residential voting rights and establish clear governance standards of conflict of interest and independence.

  1. Thanks to everyone involved to get this process started. Looking forward to a great result that benefits the whole community. Pete Mitchell

  2. This is wonderful initiative that is well past due. I hav hoped for this after I learned the facts during my two terms on the MV Town Council. I am ready to help however I can

  3. Keep me in the loop as I agree with what the homeowners association is trying to do and will support their goals. Joanne Steinback

  4. The numbers presented as to Telski Board members vs TMVOA representatives don’t seem reasonable or fair to homeowners. Is this subject open for discussion with Telski ? This almost seems like Chicago politics during the Daley years !!

  5. I’m in support of more members from the owners group on the board. There should be at least 5 or 6 residential owner members if we are providing 90% of the revenue.

  6. This is a critical action for all home owners. The recent actions wrt areas such as zoning changes, lodging committee initiatives and the comprehensive plan amply show how homes owners and their rights are the least considered aspect of the current associations consciousness. We need to understand how much of TMVOA future budget is directly or indirectly planned to support the commercial ski activity.
